Camera Research!

As I have mentioned and maybe seen in several posts.....I'm not happy with the quality of my camera and in the hunt for a new one. My hubby "got" me, well is getting me one, for my birthday! He wrapped up our old one and told me to pick out a new one......how sweet!!! I know all of you bloggers out there have camera's because I have seen your pictures and I need input on what camera will fit my needs. So, who better to ask than you.....moms that use it on a daily basis to capture our children's best....and maybe not so best moments. I don't want to spend a ton....around $200, 10 megapixel, at least 10x zoom, fairly simple to use and good video capability. I've seen many more options that I would like, but those are the biggy's for me! I'm not really sure that I want a compact point and shoot, but don't need some big professional one either. I have been looking at the Nikon's, but also know there are other great brands out there too. I've never had a Nikon.....Do any of you and what do you think of them.....honestly???

The one I saw and was doing some research on is the Nikon coolpix L100.......Does anyone have that one? I'm not sure if it has video capability, but was also looking at the next step up the Nikon coolpix L110 that does for sure......Does anyone have this one?

Any advice is NEEDED and appreciated!

Hi, Nichole! I love Nikons. I have a Nikon myself, and I think they're a fanstastic camera. I actually like mine better than my Canon. But then, I use a big semi-pro cam, so it's not quite apples to apples.
Take care!

Jed and Vicki told me a week ago or so....
for difficult cameras (can be used on auto too for easier use) Canon G11 or Panasonic something (600 USD or so)
but Vicki said for an easy small one her Elph.
I got a panasonic lumix and returned - I bought it so that I could record video and voom in and out- not worth it -color was blue gray- look at Gwens party pics BAD!!!
Returned and bought the one that I got stolen- which I loved and took great pics - canon powershot....
good luck!
let us know what you bought!

I would go with Nikon or Canon. For a power shot camera that you can easily fit in your purse, Canon is the way to go. If you're getting a big high quality camera then I'd probably say Nikon

I'd say make sure you buy one with optical zoom and not just digital zoom...big quality difference. Megapixals probably wouldn't be the biggest factor for you because you won't be blowing them up gigantic. I've blown up a 3.2 megapixal picture to 16x20 and it was still great.

I would recommend the Canon Power Shot S3IS. that's the camera we have and we love it. It's easy enough for me to use, and has enough features that Jonathan can take some great photographs. Also, it has a wonderful video camera. So if you don't have a video camera I would say this would be a great choice. We sold our video camera because our regular Canon does such a great job. And it's handy when you're shooting pictures to just capture a video at the same time. ;)
